I think it is
true. We do not develop our own independent ideas. I have seen many people who accept
opinions of others.
For example, English
classes. In my English class, most students have their independent ideas; however,
they are not really active in the class. When we have a discussion, my teacher asks
someone to share his/her ideas. Most students do not want to share their
opinions. If he/she shares his/her ideas which are totally different from
others, they might think that person is crazy or an idiot. Thus, the next
person always agrees and accepts his/her ideas.
I have had an
experience. During the first semester in English class, I shared my opinion to
others. My thought was kind of emotional, weird, and quite different from other
thoughts. They thought I did not get the point, so it was an awkward moment,
and I was seriously shamed. However, the teacher supported my idea, so I was
able to get through that moment. After this happening, whenever my teacher asks
me to share my opinion, I always follow one’s opinion or thought first and share
my opinion.
In my
experience, most people accept opinions of others every time, but they do not develop
their own ideas all the time.
